Review
- Its about almost
seven years that Swiss doomsters Pÿlon produced the first album
with Matt Brant and Jan Thomas be the heart of the band and here
the latest and third full album Armoury Of God close the trilogy maybe
is the the most spiritual album until now .Intro track ''The First
Church'' is a classic monolithic Sabbath guitar riff that extents with
background keyboards that add little more often in this album , we can
say this is just a decent intro track same as the ''The Worm Within''
with more slow tempo rhythms here and on some other tracks the
vocals tried to performed some kind of echo add some atmosphere .''In
From The Funeral Fields'' a reproduced song back from second album is a
song with great lyrical structure starts , produced and recording
possible this time from the words and working adding some acoustic
guitars and keys the result is excellent , one of the highlights.
- Armoury of God are very
careful work , sounds more solid atmospheric and melodic than The Eternal Wedding Band CD
with songs like ''2046'' and ''Anaconda'' back in 2006 less
raw and heavy if excluding songs like ''Hollow Sky'' with some head
bagging parts!. Continued with ''Cosmic Treasure'' taking some
action experimental progressive and the Greek tiltle ''I Lyki Stin
Kardia Mou'' instrumental riff taken from ''The Worm
Within'' seem to cut the album in 2 parts first the more melodic
and the second part more close at the early period from albums
Natural Songbirth andThe Eternal Wedding Band .''Hunter Angels''
starts with a monsterus bass and we can hear very clear some early
Candlemass influences from ''Ancient Dreams'' album preparing
for the Candlemass cover ''Somewhere In Nowhere'' and
ends with experimental jam track ''Death Is All Around''. The artwork CD
- another great art from Charlie Fireworks including all the lyrics.
Pÿlon guitarist Matt Brant give a unique sounds with solos
and guitar textures and Christian themes and Topics are similar with
Swedes ''Faith'' and ''Place Of Skulls'' and what remains to
wait for the next album Harrowing Of Hell musical direction .Stoner
rockers give a listen (especially first albums) , doom metal fans
buy with closed eyes. Spiritual majestic doom metal from Switzerland .
