- Southern
punk culture and metal roots is it the result interest ? Venomous
Maximus (they take the name possible from a
G.I.Joe
character tattoo ) first known in the interviews section by
Linus Pauling Quartet bassist Steve Finley , a new band is active
almost a year now they won best Metal at the Houston Press Music
Awards in this November .Setting up a music frame here the band
are high influenced by Pentagram Blue Cheer High On Fire and
soundly very close to Alabama Thunder Pussy Gypsyhawk Red Fang and
the look like the the heavy metal version of Antisseen.
- Hearing
the first track 'The Mission' show us the first immersion these metal
riots are play simple straight out punk n roll ,Gregg
Higgins vocals are same way
hoarse and lyrical ironically
rhythms section are near to excellent with a kind off army drums in a
while and the solos off
Christian Larson lead guitars take
action in the second song .I can write here that the song of
Venomous Maximus are quite
similar have the same cut this is one off the issue of the self
organized bands set a limitations , with a well experienced Producer
might could expand the music . 'The Gift' 'Wicked Ways' are little
more wide and rich than first two songs , in 'Wicked Ways' add
successfully elements of NWOBHM .'Give Up The Witch * ' from the first
7" inch is a melodic Heavy punk song with a vein of Iron Maiden !and
'The living Dead' are the high lights of the release .Generally the Ep
will be loved by fan of Orange Goblin Dixie Witch and The Sword
sharing with them the same 80's metal influence , this band is for
Southern heavy audience and ignored by mainstream metal cause of the
origin of independent scene of Houston Texas ,scroll down vote or die!
